For groups of 15 or more.

If you have heard about the Sprucelands Riding Clinics, then you already know they are an awesome hands-on experience for your girls. Your group will learn, work and laugh together as you discover both the responsibility and joy in safe riding and horse management.

You will feed groom and lead a horse, clean stalls, take riding lessons, enjoy a gymkhana (games on horseback) and a mini horse show. Each rider will enjoy the experience of owning a horse for a weekend. We practice safety; and we talk about the expenses involved with actual horse ownership.

At the Junior level, three particular badges can be earned in a Sprucelands weekend: Horse Rider, Horse Fan, and Camp Together. If you combine the fun and learning of the weekend with activities you manage as a troop, your girls will be proficient in all three areas.

We also address Cadet interests and aid them in earning specific requirements for their horsemanship skiills.

Basic Information

1. Minimum number of riders is 15. Maximum riders is 24.

2. Cost per rider: $93.00. Trail ride clinics: $100 per rider. Please note: Trail ride clinics are only done in the fall.

3. Non-riding supervising adults pay $15.00 for the weekend and will be expected to help with supervision if needed when scouts are involved in the program at the barn. This expands overall supervision and builds group spirit.

4. Riding adults pay the full clinic fee of $93.00 and participate in all aspects of the weekend clinic.

5. If a rider participates in only one day of the clinic, full payment is required.

6. Riders may use their own helmets in lieu of using Spruceland helmets. However personal helmets must meet safety standards of an SEI approved helmet.
