Camp Communications

Since we have ONE telephone in the camp lodge for use by our camp population, kitchen staff, and nurse, we like phone traffic at a minimum.

We discourage calls before the first Friday of a camper’s stay. Then we ask for no more than one call each week. We prefer campers not call out, and we ask that calls come from a family member, not girlfriends and boyfriends. This keeps the volume of calls minimal and encourages your camper’s independence.

Eileen is reached best between 6-7:45 a.m. at her home phone. There is voice mail if she is unavailable.

Eileen may be reached in the Camp Lodge at 8:00-8:30 a.m., 12:40-1:00 p.m., or some evenings between 6-6:30 p.m. That is some evenings because there are times when she gives riding lessons to the public during suppertime.

Email

A reminder. You may write email to your camper and Eileen will download your email for your camper's mail delivery that day.

If you want Eileen to write you about how your camper is doing, that is possible. Actually, Eileen holds many parents hands across email every summer.

AIRPORT, BUS, TRAIN PICK-UPS

If you have a camper coming in on an airplane, bus, or train, alert us to the time of their arrival and we will have an approved adult meet them and transport them to camp.

You may need to give the airlines the name of a pickup person. Right now, give them Eileen Thompson. The day of your flight, however, we will give you the name of the actual person meeting your camper.

Cost for pickup: $30.00. We can take this money from your child’s store account or you can pay us directly. Make check to Sprucelands. Thank you.

Horse Shows and Trail Pace Dates

Show Dates: July 12, July 26, August 9 and August 23
Start Time: 10 a.m.
After horse shows, you are invited to join us at the Village Pub for a buffet lunch. Cost approximately $8.00. Great way to have closure to your camp time.
Trail Pace Dates: July 5, July 19, August 2, and August 16

After the Horse Show

We go to the Village Pub in Strykersville for a closing buffet. This is not mandatory. It is a pleasant way to close your camp experience. All families are welcome.
