Opening Day, Check in Time, Rider Evaluations
When you arrive at camp, there will be a camp representative waiting to greet you at the end of the driveway.
Please stop when you see them. We want to wish you a warm welcome.
We ask you to park in the lot near the Camp Lodge. Enter the Lodge to check in between 2-4 p.m. No early check-ins.
During check-in, there are stations for you to visit. (1) Get a name tag, cabin assignment, and schedule your riding evaluation for the afternoon; (2) meet the Camp Nurse, make sure she has your health forms, and give her your medications; (3) open a store account and settle up any outstanding tuition; and (4) meet with a camp representative about the Gopher Program and Horse Leasing Program. It really doesn't take too long.
Please wait and go to the barn for your evaluation ride at the time you are scheduled. Otherwise, there is much congestion, and it becomes confusing and frustrating.
Your evaluation ride by the way is all of 10 minutes. It gives us a brief at your comfort level around horses. Evaluations are continued during actual riding lessons on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Often changes are made because we want to make sure we have you in the best class for your skills, and on the safest horse for your riding level.
After the evaluation, campers return to their cabins to unpack and settle belongings. This is a good time for parents to make a graceful departure.
Walking tours of camp for your campers are scheduled after your cabin mates have finished their evaluation ride and settled their belongings. There will be a cabin meeting and walking tour of camp so you feel comfortable with your surroundings and learn where things are.
