Camp Availability

There are 60 camper spaces in each session of summer camp.

Campers start sending in their registrations in September, taking advantage of the early bird discounts that are offered on the website.

Accelerated Horsemasters: you must save your space as soon as you know your schedule.

So you are aware, the July 13-27 session is filling VERY FAST. If you have your heart set on getting into that session, please claim your space as soon as possible.

CIT spots are still open. We welcome your interest in joining us as a CIT as long as you are becoming a member of the CIT team, eager to participate in the leadership training we offer.

Summer Camp Theme

Every summer we have a theme. That theme gives us an imaginative framework for silly, creative fun across the summer.

Using our imagination is part of the down home country fun where we get back to the basics. We use our camper and staff talents to entertain. Sometimes it means exploring the natural world. At times, it means sitting and laughing and nothing in particular.

In the past we have celebrated a summer used themes like Disney, Peter Pan, Robin Hood, Famous Horses, trains, hot air balloons. One summer the Camp Lodge was a cruise ship. You name, we have done it. Last summer we had a ball celebrating Harry Potter.

This year our theme will build around SHREK. Seems we might have fun with fairytales and at the same time utilize the positive messages that permeate the stories it tells. We are all about positive thinking, possibilities, developing our potential, reaching for the stars, and more. So come ready to enjoy positives at Sprucelands.

Which Session is Best

Picking the best session is totally your choice. Many campers have their preferences.

During the first session, we get off to a fresh start with a big Opening Ceremony. The 4th of July is celebrated with a drill team performance that our campers and staff put together themselves. This is a big deal for those who enjoy riding in a drill team. We also celebrate the 4th with games, a picnic, campfire and fireworks across the lake.

The second session is popular and very busy. Our horses are warmed up and ready to go, thoroughly enjoying the trails, and getting more involved with jumping. This session is generally the most full session. There is always a talent show, trail pace, and karaoke night during this session, and every other session as well.

In our third session we really take off with the camp theme. This year we are doing SHREK and so the kids are coming up with creative ideas for evening programs. Since we are a kids camp, we like to involve them in the planning. During third session, they really get into trying out programs that have not yet been implemented during the first sessions.

Fourth session, we are relaxed, laughing, comfortable with riding harder than in the early part of the summer. Much of that is because we are more fit and so are the horses. Trail rides are awesome, partly because this time of the summer the scenery takes on a crisper look, the corn is high in the fields and days are often cooler. We also know Closing Ceremony is upon us, and so we value time in the last session with a different perspective.

It's really difficult to say which session is best. Every session is different, unique, fun, challenging, and memorable. Much depends on the group of campers we are privileged to know and enjoy.

Sprucelands is a special place. We are building tomorrow.
