Counselors in Training Connection

Welcome to a SHREK Summer!

I am finally updating this page for new and returning CITs. It's been quite a winter with interesting weather, my responsibilities at school, and keeping up with camp as a whole. Now I can get down to business and we can get going with our CIT trainings.

We have made some horse changes. You'll be hearing more about that over the coming weeks. I have a newsletter about finished to mail out. The big news is that I can now link you to the newsletter through the website, and you'll be able to read it online. That's something I've always wanted to do, but didn't have the tools. Well, I figured it out over the winter, thanks to my computer tech at our elementary school.

You will see on this page the dialogue questions for new CITs. Returning CITs, your questions are also found on the link above the running horse on the opposite side of this page. This year's questions approach you from a little bit different angle and perspective.

I will continue to talk about goals. Goals are so important. I set goals for myself each summer. They give me purpose for what I do and at the same time help me feel as though I accomplished something specific across the summer. When something comes up, I often respond with my goals in mind.

We have a lot of new campers joining us this summer. I am particularly excited with the response from some younger campers, and also a camper from Spain, one from France, and another from Canada. It's wonderful to enrich our experience with friends beyond our borders.

Camp Newspaper

Last summer we actually got our newspaper off the ground again. That was with thanks to CITs and Counselors. I would love for you to think about taking that on as a way to contribute this summer. I know campers - and myself - thoroughly enjoy having a newspaper to keep as a memory. It's always great reading.

Vespers on SundayVespers

Hope you are thinking about ideas for vespers. If you have poems that are meaningful, bring them with you. If you can come up with positive thoughts from SHREK that we could build on in a vespers, terrific. We want quality campfires on Sunday evenings. Vespers has always been a CIT responsibility and opportunity to lead.

CIT Manuals

This summer you will each have your very own CIT manual. The manuals give you clear data about camp policies, routines, schedules, Counselor and CIT responsibilities.
